About the Role:
The Team Lead position plays a critical role in elevating the quality of NY Preschool and Kids Club’s enrichment and preschool programs. This position is both instructional and leadership-focused, serving as a bridge between the teaching team and the Head of School/Education Director. By coaching, mentoring, and modeling best practices, the Team Lead ensures that every class and event reflects NYPKC’s commitment to excellence, family satisfaction, and community impact at the school level. This position will work M-F 11am-6pm.
What You'll Do
Teacher Development & Coaching
- Train, mentor, and support teachers to deliver high-quality enrichment and preschool programs.
- Provide immediate, actionable feedback and coaching to teaching teams across both weekday and weekend programs.
- Participate in professional development by teaching side-by-side with team members, modeling instructional excellence, and sharing notes and feedback with the Education Director.
- Integrate new hires into the school’s teaching culture, ensuring consistency in program quality and alignment with NYPKC standards.
Program Leadership
- Act as the Lead for camp programs as assigned; where unavailable, designate and prepare another Lead.
- Oversee school-level programming quality by conducting monthly weekend visits for class and event observations, with heightened focus at the start of each semester.
- Lead school events each semester (e.g., camp previews, trial classes) that highlight NYPKC programs and foster family engagement as needed.
- Partner with the Head of School and Education Director to strengthen communication with families through polished and effective pre- and post-class announcements.
Operations
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of inventory counts and order requests.
- Support scheduling and execution of training, special events, and enrichment launches at your home school and sister schools when needed.
- Balance a workload of approximately 25–30 teaching hours in assigned programs with 10–15 leadership/project hours, totaling up to 40 hours per week.
- Carry out other responsibilities as assigned to support the success of the school.
School-Level Impact
- Elevates the quality of instruction across all enrichment programs at their school.
- Directly improves family experience and retention through teacher coaching, consistent program excellence, and clear parent communication.
- Strengthens staff culture by mentoring new and existing teachers and reinforcing best practices.
- Serves as a leadership presence at events, camps, and previews that drive enrollment and community reputation.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong background in gymnastics, dance, music, or other enrichment specialties for children, with a proven ability to model best practices.
- Experience teaching adult participation and/or independent participating classes with children ages 2-6.
- Experience coaching, mentoring, or supervising peers, ideally in an educational or performance-based setting.
- Confident in public speaking and parent-facing communication.
Experience Requirements:
- 2–3 years of teaching experience in early childhood, enrichment, or performing arts preferred.
- Prior experience in a supervisory, lead teacher, or team lead role strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in education, child development, performing arts, or related field is a plus.

The pay rate for this role is $25.00/hour
Physical Demands:
The role involves standing, walking, sitting, constant movement, and occasional climbing. The ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds is required. Specific sensory abilities include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and adjustment of focus.
