About
My goal of becoming a teacher stems from my belief that education can transform individuals and support society's growth. Early on, I noticed how dedicated teachers shaped my academic path, personal discipline, and ambition. These experiences fueled my desire to teach as a lifelong career. Over the years, I've strengthened this passion through academic study, professional training, and real classroom experience. I am now looking for teacher training in the United States of America to improve my skills within a system that values high standards, inclusion, safeguarding, and reflection.
Teaching excites me because it offers the chance to positively impact young people during their formative years positively. I am especially inspired by the role teachers play in fostering curiosity, resilience, confidence, and critical thinking. Teaching is about more than delivering content; it’s about creating a safe and supportive learning environment where students can ask questions, make mistakes, and grow both academically and socially. Seeing students progress from uncertainty to confidence, and from limited understanding to mastery, is one of the most rewarding parts of my job. This motivates my commitment to the profession.
I am particularly passionate about teaching Science at both the elementary and the secondary level because it provides essential skills needed in today's complex and technological world. Science promotes logical reasoning, inquiry, experimentation, and evidence-based thinking, all of which are crucial for problem-solving inside and outside the classroom. Elementary and the Secondary school is a vital stage where students begin to form attitudes toward learning and make decisions about their future academic and career paths. I want to inspire students by making science engaging, relevant, and accessible, especially for those who may struggle with the subject.
My subject knowledge is strong due to my academic background. I have a Bachelor of Science in Integrated Science Education from the University of Education, Winneba, where I gained solid knowledge in biology, chemistry, and physics. My program also taught me effective teaching methods, lesson planning skills, assessment strategies, and classroom management techniques tailored to science education. I have completed professional training in areas like classroom management, supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), understanding student development, and promoting diversity. These qualifications have deepened my subject expertise and my ability to support diverse learners.
I have over six years of teaching experience in the Ghana Education Service, where I taught General Science at both the elementary and senior high school levels. In this role, I planned and delivered lessons that met curriculum objectives, including practical activities and student-centred approaches to improve understanding. I regularly used formative and summative assessments to monitor progress, identify learning gaps, and give constructive feedback. This experience has sharpened my ability to adjust lessons for different learning styles and abilities while holding high expectations for all students.
Besides my teaching duties, I served as a Form Master, offering pastoral care and supporting students’ academic, emotional, and social growth. This role involved monitoring attendance, behaviour, and academic progress, as well as providing guidance on study skills, time management, and goal-setting. Through this work, I developed strong mentoring skills and a better understanding of safeguarding, student well-being, and the need to create trusting relationships with learners.
I have also been part of the Examination Committee, where I helped organise and manage both internal and external exams. This role improved my understanding of assessment processes, confidentiality, accuracy, and accountability. It also enhanced my organisational skills and attention to detail, which are vital in the USA education system.
My personal qualities match the expectations of a successful trainee teacher in the USA. I am patient, reflective, and adaptable, with strong communication and interpersonal skills. I can explain complex concepts clearly and engage students through questions, discussions, and hands-on activities. I am committed to ongoing professional development and regularly reflect on my practice.
