About
I’m Varren T. Pechon from the Philippines, an elementary teacher with 19 years of teaching experience.
I’m currently teaching at Dona Juana Elementary School as 3rd Grade self-contained teacher, handling English, Science, Mathematics, Filipino, MAKABANSA and GMRC or Good Manners and Right Conduct.
Throughout my career, I have been recognized for my dedication and excellence in education.
I was awarded Most Outstanding Master Teacher during our school’s World Teachers’ Day Celebration in 2023. In the same year, I was also recognized during the Search for International Outstanding Educators and Researchers held in Boracay Island, Philippines. I was also awarded as 2nd Place “Ulirang Guro” or “Model Teacher” in the Division of Quezon City during the National Women’s Month Celebration in 2016. Additionally, I was a Finalist in the Best Basic Research Category at the FIRE Awards 2023 (Festival of Innovation and Research in Education) for my research titled, “Factors Affecting the Academic Performance of Grade 3 Learners at Doña Juana Elementary School.”
Beyond classroom teaching, I have actively led and supervised a wide range of extracurricular and school-wide initiatives. I served as Focal Person for several literacy programs, including the National Learning Camp, Tara BASA Reading Program, Summer Reading Classes, and a Zero Illiteracy intervention for struggling Grade 3 readers. I supervised tutors, monitored student progress, and implemented data-driven strategies that significantly improved reading performance. As School Research Coordinator and Research Grantee, I guided my fellow teachers in conducting action research and was honored as a finalist in the FIRE Awards for Best Basic Research.
As a Master Teacher, I served as a mentor and instructional coach to newly hired teachers by conducting Learning Action Cells, classroom observations, reviewing daily lesson plans, and evaluating teaching performance at the end of the school year. I also led the development and implementation of the School Improvement Plan for 2025–2028, driving initiatives to enhance teaching and learning outcomes. In sports, I served as Coordinator, coached Elementary Girls Athletics for many years, and chaired the QC Sports Division Screening and Accreditation Committee, helping prepare student-athletes for competition.
