I can manage to handle the misbehaviors of my students by having a structure in our class and by being consistent in the implementation of the school discipline policy, and also in consistently observing an open communication with my students.

I can handle difficult parents during class meetings. I prepare data-based evidence to ensure that they will support their children and the programs or interventions I have for their children.

I use kinesthetic strategies to engage my students in their class activities, and I also use these strategies to de-escalate misbehaviors of my students, which helps me enhance the behavior and academic performance of my students.

I am a team player. I collaborate with my colleagues in effectively and efficiently implementing the IEP of my students.

About

I am Teresita D. Ignacio, a licensed special education teacher and an adapted physical education teacher for three decades here in the Philippines for students aged 14-21. My knowledge in adapted physical education helps me use kinesthetic strategies, such as games, sports, dance, and exercise, to help de-escalate students’ misbehaviors and attain IEP goals for students with special education needs. With my many years of experience, I find this effective in decreasing student anxiety, which greatly enhances their class performance level. I also use interactive technology tools like smartboards, Kahoot, Jamboard, Pecha Kucha, and LMS to keep my students engaged and to help them enjoy and have fun while learning.
As a resource special education teacher and as an inclusive education teacher, I prepare IEPs for my students with disabilities and facilitate IEP meetings. I am deeply familiar with the big picture of compliance, documentation, and resource allocation. This allows me to approach my role as a SPED teacher with a high level of professional organization, ensuring that every IEP is not only pedagogically sound but also administratively precise.
My passion for teaching inspired me to finish my Master’s in Special Education, Master’s in Teaching Physical Education, and a Doctorate Degree in Educational Management. I am also currently pursuing a Master’s in Early Childhood. I look forward to being a blessing to your students and school community by sharing the skills I have gained from my graduate studies, research endeavors, and my effective and efficient teaching and stakeholder collaborative practices that I have honed in my long years of teaching.
