About
I am a Kenya-certified English Language Arts teacher with nine years of full-time secondary classroom experience across Grades 6-12. I hold a Bachelor of Education in English and Literature from Mount Kenya University, evaluated by SpanTran — a NACES-approved agency, confirming US degree equivalency. I hold an active Kenya Teachers Service Commission certificate, TSC Number 745443.
I am a three-time Teacher of the Year, recognized in 2018, 2022 and 2024 based on measurable student outcomes. Across my career my students have achieved a 35 percent improvement in reading comprehension and a 30 percent improvement in written proficiency. My most recent national teacher performance appraisal through Kenya's TSC TPAD system scored 96 percent.
I currently serve as ELA Subject Lead Teacher at Kiaoni Secondary School, where I carry a full teaching load alongside departmental leadership responsibilities. I have taught literary analysis, argumentative writing, research-based writing, and language development to students across middle and high school settings, including large multilingual classrooms with diverse learning needs and no teaching assistant support.
I am applying for US teaching positions through the J-1 cultural exchange program. My J-1 visa sponsorship is fully arranged through a federally designated third-party sponsor organization. There is zero visa cost or administrative burden to any hiring school or district. Upon placement I will pursue state teaching certification immediately using my completed SpanTran evaluation.
I am available for a virtual interview at any time and can be classroom-ready for the 2026-27 school year.
