About
Hi, my name is Mary Rose N. Bebanco. A dedicated elementary teacher from Cebu, Philippines. I am writing to express my strong interest in the Elementary Teacher position at United States of America. With a deep background in literacy and a passion for community-led education, I offer a unique blend of pedagogical expertise and a proven ability to engage young learners through the power of narrative.
My career has been defined by my commitment to literacy. I recently led a high-impact Community Reading Program specifically for Grade 1 and 2 learners. Recognizing that learning happens best in familiar environments, I moved the classroom into the heart of our community, facilitating reading sessions in local community centers and public spaces. This initiative resulted in a measurable increase in student engagement and, more importantly, fostered a culture of reading that extended into the homes of our family.
What sets my application apart is my recognition as a District-Level Awarded Storyteller. I do not simply read books; I bring them to life. I use this skill to:
• Captivate and Calm: Using vocal modulation, rhythm, and interactive "hook" techniques to hold the attention of even the most energetic children.
• Bridge the Curriculum: to support early language acquisition and bicultural awareness through myths and legends.
• Empower Family: Drawing on my experience with programs like Early Reading Together, I am adept at showing parents how to make storytelling a joyous, low-pressure part of their daily routine.
Beyond the classroom, I am eager to contribute to your extracurricular programs. I have been an active member of my choir club since 2022, and I would welcome the opportunity to lead or support your school’s choir. I believe that fostering student talent through music is essential for building a vibrant, inclusive school culture.
Further, I am experienced on play-based learning. I believe that when children lead their own play, they develop essential cognitive and social-emotional skills in an environment that feels both safe and stimulating. By thoughtfully designing open-ended activities and sensory experiences, I empower students to problem-solve, collaborate, and express their creativity. My goal is to facilitate a space where every 'game' is a meaningful building block for lifelong learning.
I am confident my ability to build "literacy bridges" between the center and the community will be a significant asset to your team.
Thank you for considering my application. I would welcome the opportunity to demonstrate my storytelling techniques or discuss my community literacy projects during an interview.
Respectfully yours,
Mary Rose N. Bebanco
