About
I am writing to express my enthusiastic interest in participating in the J-1 Teacher Exchange Program as an Early Childhood Educator. With a Bachelor of Education from the University of Education, Winneba, and over five years of experience fostering high-engagement learning environments in Ghana, I am eager to share my pedagogical expertise while engaging in a meaningful cultural exchange within a U.S. classroom.
In my current role as a Kindergarten Teacher at Prince of Peace Preparatory School, I have refined my ability to design age-appropriate curricula that prioritize student engagement through interactive technology, music, and gamified learning. I am particularly adept at implementing literacy and phonics programs, supported by my Science of Reading certification from Really Great Reading. My teaching philosophy is deeply child-centred, and I am committed to creating inclusive spaces where social-emotional and intellectual development are equally nurtured.
Beyond my classroom experience, I bring a global perspective to early education through my Global Montessori Training certification. I have a proven track record of collaborating with school leadership and parents to support the diverse needs of students ranging from infants to primary age. I am confident that my background in positive reinforcement, conflict resolution, and creative arts will allow me to contribute effectively to a U.S. school community while I learn from American educational best practices.
The J-1 program offers a unique opportunity to act as a cultural ambassador. I look forward to sharing Ghanaian culture and educational traditions with my future students and colleagues, and I am eager to bring back new, innovative teaching strategies to my home community upon the program's completion.
Thank you for your time and for considering my application for this transformative professional and cultural journey.
Sincerely,
Mary Merley Newman
