About
I am a passionate and dedicated science educator with ten years of experience teaching secondary students in diverse educational settings. Throughout my career, I have been committed to creating engaging, student-centered learning environments that foster curiosity, critical thinking, collaboration, and a lifelong love of learning. I believe that science education should extend beyond textbooks and memorization by encouraging students to explore, question, investigate, and apply scientific concepts to real-world situations.
Currently, I serve as a science educator at Manumalo Academy in American Samoa, where I teach biology, chemistry, earth science, health science, STEM, and capstone research to students in Grades 9–12. My teaching philosophy centers on inquiry-based learning, hands-on laboratory experiences, differentiated instruction, and the integration of technology to meet the diverse needs of learners. I strive to create an inclusive classroom where all students feel valued, respected, and empowered to succeed.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my career has been mentoring students in scientific research and competition. As high school science coordinator and science fair chairperson, I have guided students through the research process, from developing research questions and designing experiments to analyzing data and presenting findings. Most recently, I mentored a student whose project earned a 4th Place Grand Award at the 2026 Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Phoenix, Arizona. This accomplishment reflects my commitment to academic excellence and authentic scientific inquiry.
Beyond the classroom, I have served as a member of the National Honor Society Council, an advisor to the Student Government Association, a STEM Club advisor, and a member of the varsity basketball coaching staff. As a licensed physical therapist, I have also supported student-athletes through conditioning programs, injury prevention, and first-aid services. These experiences have strengthened my leadership, mentoring, and collaboration skills.
Having taught in both the Philippines and American Samoa, I have gained valuable experience working with students and colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds. These experiences have strengthened my cultural competence, adaptability, and commitment to fostering inclusive learning environments where every student feels supported and respected.
I am a reflective practitioner who continually seeks opportunities for professional growth and innovation. As a holder of both a Tennessee Professional Teaching License and a Texas Educator Certificate in Life Science (Grades 7-12), I am committed to maintaining the highest standards of professional practice while continually expanding my knowledge and skills to serve students better.
