About
I earned my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with an ESL endorsement in 2022 at Northern Illinois University through a teacher preparation program accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation and approved by the Illinois State Board of Education. Following completion of the program and required examinations, I earned my Illinois Professional Educator License.
My teaching experience spans primary and secondary educational settings across the United States, Luxembourg, and Indonesia, with extensive experience supporting multilingual learners and English language instruction. During my teacher preparation program, I completed classroom observation and teaching placements within primary school settings. I also co-taught an English summer program at SMA Pradita Dirgantara, a secondary boarding school in Central Java, Indonesia.
From 2022–2024, I worked as a 5th grade ESL Sheltered English teacher in a self-contained classroom where all students were identified as English language learners. In this role, I regularly designed, scaffolded, and adapted instructional materials to support learners across varying English proficiency levels. I also progress monitored selected students on a weekly basis to evaluate the effectiveness of targeted ELT support strategies related to reading fluency, reading comprehension, phonics, mathematics fluency, and other academic goals.
In 2024, I received a Fulbright award to serve as an English Teaching Assistant in Luxembourg. In this role, I have supported English instruction within both primary and secondary schools, working with students whose English ranges across multiple levels of academic proficiency. This experience has further strengthened my understanding of multilingual education, cross-cultural communication, and international ELT contexts. During this time I also pursued a TESOL Core Certificate.
On a personal note, I enjoy traveling and listening and playing music. I have been fortunate that my roles have allowed me to explore my interests within academic settings. I have assisted in leading school trips to New York and London, and I have been fortunate to compare differences between the Luxembourgish and US school system, presenting my presentation "Comparing Classrooms: Insights from an American Teacher in Luxembourg" at the Fulbright Commission for Educational Exchange between the U.S., Belgium and Luxembourg Mid Year Meeting. My love for music was also academically explored during my time as the Assistant Marching Band Director at Round Lake High School.
