Graduating from an agriculture high school gave me a strong background in agricultural knowledge, which continues to shape my perspective as I further my studies in English education. The hands-on experiences I gained in areas such as crop cultivation, soil management, and sustainable farming taught me discipline, responsibility, and the value of practical learning. Now, as I have pursued English education, I carry this foundation into my teaching practice, working hand in hand with my students to connect theory with real-world application. My bilingual teaching experience has been a significant strength in my professional practice. As a native Spanish speaker from Belize—the only English-speaking country in Central America—I have developed the ability to teach effectively in both Spanish and English. I have taught beginner-level Spanish to students with little or no prior knowledge of the language while also teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) to international learners through online instruction. These experiences have strengthened my instructional strategies, cultural competence, and ability to differentiate lessons to meet diverse learning needs. By creating inclusive, student-centered learning environments, I help students build confidence in their language skills while fostering an appreciation for cultural diversity.
In addition to my language teaching experience, I bring a variety of creative and practical skills that enrich the learning environment. My interests in sewing, arts, and crafts have allowed me to contribute meaningfully to school life beyond the classroom. I had the opportunity to lead a school club where students explored creative projects that encouraged teamwork, self-expression, and problem-solving. I also collaborated in designing costumes for one of the school's drum band performances, combining creativity with school spirit and community involvement.
