About
My professional identity is founded upon the conviction that mathematics is far more than a collection of memorized rules; it is a language of precision essential for describing the universe. As a licensed professional teacher and a Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) scholar, my career has been defined by a steadfast commitment to academic rigor and a passion for making complex algebraic structures accessible to the next generation of Filipino scientists and engineers. This journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, providing a strong foundation in pure and applied mathematics that serves as the bedrock of my technical expertise.
The trajectory of my career was significantly shaped during my pursuit of a Master of Science in Mathematics Education at Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT). Under the Capacity Building Program in Science and Mathematics Education (CBPSME), I was trained to move beyond simply solving equations to understanding the cognitive processes inherent in learning. This specialized scholarship, awarded in 2019, allowed me to master high-level pedagogy, specifically focusing on strategies to bridge the persistent gap between abstract mathematical theory and effective classroom application.
Today, my skill set represents a unique synthesis of expert-level mathematical content knowledge and sophisticated instructional engineering. I possess advanced proficiency in math such as College Algebra, Trigonometry, and Calculus, where my approach to topics such as Partial Fraction Decomposition is grounded in the Identity Principle to ensure conceptual clarity. To optimize the learning experience, I am a dedicated practitioner of Rosenshine’s Principles of Instruction, utilizing daily retrieval practice to combat the "forgetting curve," cognitive load management to prevent student overwhelm during complex derivations, and strategic scaffolding to foster independent mastery.
Recognizing that traditional "chalk-and-talk" methods are insufficient for a Science High School setting, I prioritize the integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in STEM education. By utilizing tools such as GeoGebra and Desmos, I provide students with geometric intuition for algebraic problems, allowing them to visualize the physical manifestations of rational functions and equations. Furthermore, my training at MSU-IIT equipped me with the skills to conduct Action Research; I utilize Tables of Specifications and item analysis to conduct data-driven assessments, pinpointing exact student misconceptions and adjusting my instructional strategies accordingly.
My professional experience is a testament to my resilience and dedication to the Philippine public school system. Between August 2023 and April 2025, I served in roles that demanded both high-level instruction and administrative precision, focusing on the rigorous implementation of the K-12 STEM curriculum. Beyond the classroom, I have actively mentored students for mathematics competitions and collaborated with department heads to align instructional goals with institutional performance targets. I have formally fulfilled my scholarship obligations, having rendered dedicated service that reflects both my integrity and my commitment to the country’s educational advancement.
While my credentials are deeply technical, my teaching philosophy remains rooted in a "warm-strict" approach that prioritizes the human element of education. I maintain high expectations for my students because I recognize their potential as future leaders in science, providing a disciplined environment where mistakes are viewed as vital data points for improvement rather than failures. I position myself as a thought partner for my students, encouraging the "uncomfortable" questions that probe the fundamental reasons behind mathematical methods, as it is through this inquiry that true understanding is achieved.
As I stand at this juncture in my career, I am prepared to bring this wealth of experience, technical skill, and scholarly passion to international stage . My objective is to contribute to the institution's storied legacy of excellence, ensuring that every student leaves my classroom equipped with the analytical tools necessary to effect global change. Having been a recipient of the Philippine government’s investment in academic excellence, I am now fully prepared to deliver the dividend on that investment through high-impact mathematics education.
