About
Hello, my name is Jessie Mae Basilgo, and I am a currently practicing Mathematics teacher with four years of teaching experience in both international and Philippine secondary school settings, serving diverse student populations.
I am currently teaching Grades 9 and 10 Mathematics in the Philippines, where I design and deliver standards-based, student-centered instruction aligned with key mathematical practices such as problem-solving, reasoning, and mathematical communication. I focus on helping students develop conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and real-world application. I regularly use differentiated instruction, formative assessment, and data-driven strategies to support varied learning needs and promote academic growth.
Previously, I spent two years teaching in Bangkok, Thailand, working with kindergarten and elementary learners in a multicultural classroom environment. This experience strengthened my classroom management skills, adaptability, and ability to create engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons, while also enhancing my cultural competence and inclusive teaching practices.
In addition to my professional experience, I have completed 30 graduate units toward my Master of Arts in Education, major in Teaching Mathematics, and I am currently continuing my thesis program. My graduate coursework has deepened my understanding of curriculum design, assessment, and research-based instructional strategies.
What distinguishes me as an educator is my ability to teach across grade levels and cultural contexts, paired with strong communication skills and a commitment to continuous professional growth. I value collaboration, reflective practice, and high expectations for all learners.
I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to contribute to a U.S. school community through effective, standards-aligned Mathematics instruction that supports student achievement and equity. Thank you for your time and consideration.
