About
I am a results-driven English Language and Literature educator with over 14 years of progressive teaching experience across junior secondary and high school levels in Kenya. I hold a Bachelor of Education (Arts) in English and Literature from Kenyatta University and am a registered teacher with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC). Throughout my career, I have demonstrated a strong commitment to academic excellence by delivering standards-based, learner-centered instruction that develops students' literacy, communication, critical thinking, and analytical skills. I have extensive experience designing structured lesson plans, schemes of work, and assessments aligned with curriculum standards while implementing differentiated instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students. My ability to use data-driven assessment has enabled me to improve student achievement and examination performance, while my integration of educational technology, including Microsoft Office applications, projectors, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and multimedia resources, has enhanced classroom engagement and learning outcomes. Currently, I serve as a Teacher of English Language and Literature at Gilgil Girls' High School, where I also lead the Drama Club as Patron, mentor students, support learner discipline as a Dormitory Mistress and member of the Disciplinary Committee, and contribute to students' academic, social, and personal growth. Prior to this role, I taught English and Literature at NYS Gilgil Junior Secondary School, where I prepared lesson plans, developed assessments, coached netball, and served on the Guidance and Counselling Committee, providing holistic support to learners. My leadership in co-curricular activities has earned recognition, including the Best Cultural Creative Dance Producer Award at the Kenya Drama Festivals in 2024, reflecting my passion for nurturing students' creativity, confidence, and teamwork beyond the classroom. I am recognized for my strong classroom management, effective communication, collaboration, professionalism, adaptability, and commitment to continuous learning. My professional interests include curriculum development, educational technology integration, student mentorship, literary and creative arts advancement, and cross-cultural education. Fluent in both English and Swahili, I am open to relocation to the United States and eager to contribute my knowledge, experience, and passion for teaching within an international school community.
