About
It is with great enthusiasm that I share my experience for the J-1 Teacher Exchange Program. As a results-driven Biology and Chemistry educator with 6 years of experience in Kenya , I am eager to share the richness of Kenyan culture with American students while gaining a deeper understanding of the US educational system to enhance my teaching practice back home.
Throughout my career at institutions such as Chesamisi Boys’ High School, I have demonstrated a strong commitment to student-centered learning and academic excellence. As the Head of Subject for Chemistry, I have consistently improved KCSE mean scores through data-driven instruction and innovative laboratory practices. My experience in implementing the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) in Kenya has equipped me with the flexibility and modern pedagogical skills necessary to thrive in diverse classroom environments.
Beyond the laboratory, I am a passionate advocate for cultural exchange. I have organized numerous Cultural Events and served as a mentor to students, fostering an environment of global competence. Participating in the J-1 program is a vital step in my professional journey, as it will allow me to:
• Facilitate Cross-Cultural Understanding: By sharing Kenyan traditions and perspectives, I aim to help American students develop a broader global worldview.
• Exchange Pedagogical Best Practices: I look forward to integrating US educational technology and inquiry-based learning methods into my own repertoire.
• Impact Kenyan Education: Upon completion of the program, I intend to return to Kenya to share my international experiences with my colleagues and students, further strengthening our science programs.
I am a registered teacher with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC No: 876996) and hold a Bachelor of Education (Science) from Kisii University. My background in inquiry-based learning and classroom management ensures that I can provide a high-quality educational experience for my host school.
Thank you for your time and for considering my application to be a cultural ambassador for Kenya. I look forward to the possibility of discussing how my background and passion for science education can contribute to your program
