About
I am a licensed Science educator with more than 25 years of teaching experience in K–12 education, specializing in Chemistry and student-centered science instruction. Throughout my career at Xavier University Junior High School, I have been committed to creating engaging, inclusive, and inquiry-based learning environments that foster scientific literacy, critical thinking, and lifelong learning.
My teaching philosophy centers on meeting the diverse needs of every learner through differentiated instruction, hands-on laboratory experiences, collaborative learning, and data-informed teaching practices. I strive to create a positive classroom culture where students feel respected, challenged, and supported to achieve their full potential. Guided by the Jesuit principles of cura personalis and reflective practice, I emphasize not only academic excellence but also character development, empathy, and social responsibility.
In addition to classroom teaching, I have served as Science Department Chairperson, where I provided instructional leadership, mentored fellow science teachers, coordinated curriculum development, and promoted continuous improvement in science education. As a PEAC–Department of Education Regional Science Trainer, I have facilitated professional development workshops for science teachers, supporting the implementation of effective instructional strategies, inquiry-based learning, and curriculum standards.
I have also served as a Class Moderator for many years, working closely with students, parents, counselors, and school administrators to support students' academic, social, and emotional development. As a Science Mentor, I have coached students for Chemistry Olympiads and science quiz competitions, guiding them to numerous city, regional, and national achievements.
I am passionate about creating equitable, engaging, and culturally responsive learning experiences for diverse learners. I value collaboration with colleagues, families, and the wider school community and look forward to contributing my experience, leadership, and commitment to student success in an international K–12 school setting.
