About
During my time in college, I had the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of education through various internships and volunteer work. These experiences allowed me to develop strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to create engaging and effective lesson plans that meet the diverse needs of my students.
As a language teacher in one of the senior high schools in Ghana from 2011 to this day, I have a lot of experience teaching students such as ensuring diversity and equity ( the methodology to adopt teaching students from diverse backgrounds), the ability to exercise discipline since teaching cannot begin in an unruly class, the ability to ininstilhe love of the subject taught, how to prepare students well for an exam, etc.
Not only do I share knowledge with students in the classroom but also extend a helping hand to students during extracurricular activities like sports when preparing them for intercollegiate competition because of my experience ing part of the Local Organizing Committee for the 2008 African Cup of Nation hosted by Ghana.
As form master and head of the English Department in my school, I ensure that the concerns of teachers and students are well dealt with. The government of Ghana has also introduced a policy intervention called T-TEL ( Transforming Teaching Education and Learning ), where subject teachers meet to discuss various topics for deep insight. As Head of the department, I see to it that this exercise is well conducted. I am also drawn to this program because of its focus on practical application. I believe that this practical experience will be invaluable in preparing me for a higher career in education.
