About
I am Emily Akinyi Akiri, a dedicated English and Literature teacher with over 20 years of teaching experience at various class levels. Throughout my career, I have consistently worked to foster a love for language and critical thinking among my students. My teaching philosophy is centered on engaging learners through meaningful texts and creating inclusive, learner- centered environments that support both academic excellence and personal growth.
Beyond the classroom, I have contributed to curriculum development at the Kenya national level where I collaborated with other educators to design Competency Based Education English Curriculum Designs for use in Kenyan schools. I have also played a key role in the assessment of learners particularly in developing and moderating assessment items to ensure fairness, clarity and alignment with the learning outcomes.
