About
My name is Elkanah Nyakwama Ogora, and I am from Kenya, where I currently live and teach.
I am a professional teacher of Mathematics and Chemistry, currently teaching learners from Grade 6 through Grade 12 at St. Martha Mixed Day Secondary School. I also serve as the school curriculum coordinator.
I have ten years of teaching experience, having served in the profession since 2016. Throughout my career, I have been passionate about practical STEM education, student achievement, mentoring learners to achieve their full potential and using technology in class to improve student achievement in mathematics and Chemistry. I also have international research experience having trained in Germany. This experience has enabled me to train my learners to apply the skills to come up with science based projects using available raw materials for environmental remediation. Through this we have competed for these programs up to the national level where my students show case about these skills. I am also a soccer coach in my school. I am also a National examiner since 2018 where I set, mark, moderate and grade learners in their performance for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
Academically, I hold a Master of Science degree in Chemistry, which I completed in December 2020. I also hold a Bachelor of Education in Science with First Class Honours, specializing in Mathematics and Chemistry, which I completed in November 2015.
I am excited about the opportunity to bring my experience, dedication, and passion for teaching, and also learn new skills, experiences so that i can use to train my learners back in my country. I am also two steps away from leadership responsibilities. These skills and experience will also assist me to be a successful leader in my country.
