With a background in Mathematics, I have developed strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills. I am also experienced in using educational technology, research, and differentiated teaching strategies to support diverse learners.
I am adaptable, organized, collaborative, and willing to learn, which allows me to work effectively with students, colleagues, and school communities. My graduate studies in Educational Management have also strengthened my leadership, planning, and decision-making skills.
Most importantly, I am a passionate and lifelong learner who is committed to helping students succeed and continuously improving my teaching practice.
About
My name is Cris Jay T. Javal, a licensed professional teacher from the Philippines. I am currently a permanent Senior High School teacher at Saysain High School in Bagac, Bataan, where I have the opportunity to teach, guide, and inspire young learners. I earned my Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Mathematics from Bataan Peninsula State University in 2022 and successfully passed the Licensure Examination for Teachers in 2023. I am also pursuing a Master’s degree in Educational Management, which has strengthened my knowledge and skills in educational leadership, planning, research, and school management.
As a teacher, I consider myself passionate, responsible, adaptable, and committed to the success of my students. I believe that every learner has unique abilities and potential, and one of my responsibilities as an educator is to help students discover and develop those strengths. My experience in the Philippine public school system has taught me to be patient, resourceful, and flexible, especially when working with students from different backgrounds and with varying learning needs.
My background in Mathematics has helped me develop strong analytical and problem-solving skills. However, I have learned that teaching is not only about academic knowledge. It is also about building relationships, understanding students, encouraging them when they struggle, and creating a classroom environment where they feel respected and valued. I always strive to connect lessons to real-life situations so that students can understand the relevance of what they are learning.
Aside from classroom teaching, I value research, professional development, collaboration, and community involvement. I have participated in school-based programs and research activities that have allowed me to continuously improve my practice as an educator. My graduate studies in Educational Management have also given me a broader perspective on how teachers can contribute not only to student achievement but also to school improvement and educational leadership.
As a Filipino teacher, I am proud of my culture and the values that have shaped me as an educator. I value respect, perseverance, family, cooperation, and service to others. I believe these values influence the way I interact with my students, colleagues, and community. I also believe that being a teacher means being a lifelong learner, and I am always open to learning new ideas, strategies, and perspectives.
One of my goals in participating in the J-1 Teacher Exchange Program is to experience the American education system and learn from educators who work in a diverse and innovative educational environment. I want to gain new perspectives on teaching, classroom management, educational technology, student-centered learning, and school practices. At the same time, I look forward to sharing Filipino culture, values, and educational experiences with my future students and colleagues.
I see myself not only as a teacher who wants to teach abroad, but as an educator who wants to learn, contribute, connect, and grow. I believe that international teaching experience will help me become a more effective and globally minded educator. Most importantly, I hope to bring the knowledge and experiences I gain back to the Philippines and use them to contribute to my students, fellow teachers, school, and community.
I am excited about the possibility of taking this next step in my professional journey. I am ready to embrace new challenges, learn from a different educational environment, build meaningful relationships, and represent the Philippines with pride, professionalism, and dedication.
