I am writing to express my interest in the position of Teacher of Mathematics and/or Economics with Business. I bring with me over 11 years of experience teaching in international schools, a Bachelor of Education (arts) Economics (Major) and Business Studies from the University of Nairobi, and a proven track record of academic excellence, I am confident in my ability to contribute to your school’s commitment to high-quality education. I am currently working a Cambridge Economics setter and reviser since I have solid experience in examining for both CIE and Pearson spanning to over 8 years. I have been Homeroom Teacher ranging from Year 7-13 since I started teaching, hence I am comfortable playing that role.
In my most recent role at International School Seychelles, I taught IGCSE, AS, and A-Level students in Economics and Business Studies, preparing them for examinations while fostering a deep understanding of economics and business concepts. As a Cambridge Examiner for Economics, Business, and Mathematics, I have developed a comprehensive understanding of exam strategies, assessment criteria, and the best methods to prepare students for their exams. This experience allows me to refine my teaching methods; ensuring students not only excel academically but also develop a lasting appreciation for the subjects. I boast of passion of teaching Economics that is evident based on the fact 93% of my students have chosen Economics as their preferred to study at prestigious universities in The UK, The Netherlands, US, Canada, China among others. In 2023, my top 6 students (A*) got admitted at LSE, Cambridge and Imperial College to study Economics out of a class of 13.
I am passionate about fostering both academic and personal growth in students. As a Form Tutor and mentor, I have cultivated strong, supportive relationships with students, offering guidance on both academic matters and personal development. My commitment to holistic education extends to my extra-curricular involvement, where I have successfully coached football teams, prepared students for international debating competitions, and organized athletics events. These activities have enabled me to cultivate leadership, teamwork, and communication skills in students, which are essential for their future success. I do get involved in preparing students for World Economics Cup’s Preparation, MUN, Debating competitions, Athletics and Football training and matches.
Beyond my teaching and coaching roles, I am committed to ongoing professional development and have completed numerous CPD courses in areas such as child protection, equity and diversity, and mental well-being. I am fluent in English and proficient in French (B1) and Spanish (A2), allowing me to effectively engage with a diverse student body and collaborate with international colleagues.
