About
Teaching has been both my profession and my vocation for the past eighteen years. It is a path that I entered with a deep love for language and a sincere desire to make a difference in the lives of learners, and it continues to shape me not only as an educator but also as a person. With a Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English, a Master of Arts in English, and extensive experience in both secondary and tertiary education, I am eager to bring my knowledge, skills, and passion for teaching to an international school's dynamic and globally oriented educational environment.
For twelve years, I taught at the college level, handling a wide range of English and literature courses. Teaching in higher education honed my ability to facilitate critical thinking, academic writing, research, and meaningful discussions. It also allowed me to mentor young adults as they prepared for their professional paths. I learned that effective teaching goes beyond content delivery; it requires guiding students to become confident communicators, independent learners, and responsible individuals.
My six years in senior high school provided me with a different yet equally rewarding perspective. Here, I worked closely with younger learners who needed not only academic guidance but also motivation, encouragement, and a supportive learning environment. This experience strengthened my ability to design engaging and interactive lessons that develop students’ macro skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) while making learning relevant to their real-life experiences. It also deepened my understanding of differentiated instruction, formative assessment, and values integration in the classroom.
Being a LET passer has grounded my practice in professionalism and ethical responsibility. It symbolizes my commitment to quality education and continuous growth. My graduate studies, on the other hand, enriched my pedagogical and linguistic competence and strengthened my appreciation for literature, discourse, and communication as powerful tools for personal and social transformation. These academic experiences have shaped my teaching philosophy: that language education is not merely about grammar and structure, but about giving learners a voice, a means to connect with others, and the confidence to participate in a global community.
Looking back on my eighteen years in the classroom, I see countless faces, stories, and small victories that remind me why I chose this profession. I have witnessed students discover their confidence in speaking, develop their love for reading, and realize their potential through writing. These moments continue to inspire me to become a better teacher each day.
