About
I am a dedicated and internationally experienced educator with over ten years of success in Early Years and Primary education. I have worked in multicultural school environments in Rwanda, delivering English, Mathematics, and Science using the American Common Core Standards, UK National Curriculum, IB PYP, and Cambridge approaches. My teaching practice is strongly grounded in literacy development, inquiry-based learning, and student-centred instruction, with a focus on nurturing confident, curious, and independent learners.
Currently, I serve as a Grade 2 Lead Teacher at Iwacu Academy, where I design engaging, inquiry-driven lessons that have significantly improved students’ reading fluency, comprehension, and overall academic performance. In this role, I also mentor colleagues, lead professional development sessions, collaborate closely with parents and support staff, and implement individualised learning plans to support diverse learning needs. Alongside my classroom role, I work as an online tutor for UK-based learners in Years 4 to 6, delivering English, Mathematics, and Science through interactive digital platforms while providing personalised feedback to enhance literacy outcomes.
Previously, I taught Grade 4 at Green Hills Academy, where I successfully increased student English performance by 35% through targeted reading and writing strategies, formative assessment, and collaborative learning approaches. Earlier in my career, I worked as an Early Years Teacher at Umubano Academy, developing phonics-based and play-based literacy programmes for children aged three to six, laying strong foundations in communication, social development, and early reading skills.
I hold a Bachelor of Education in English and Literature and a Diploma in Early Childhood Development and Education. I am skilled in differentiated and inclusive instruction, assessment for learning, educational technology integration, classroom management, and cross-cultural communication. Passionate about continuous professional growth, I have undertaken extensive professional development in project-based learning, STEM integration, Singapore Math, design thinking, and literacy instruction. Above all, I am a committed educator who values collaboration, creativity, and lifelong learning, and I strive to inspire learners to become articulate, thoughtful, and globally minded individuals.
