It is with a deep passion for early childhood education and a career-long commitment to student success that I briefly write about myself. Having served at Braeside Lavington in Nairobi since 1996, I have dedicated nearly three decades to mastering the art of teaching Kindergarten, 1st Grade, and 2nd Grade. I am now eager to transition my "Master Teacher" expertise to your district, bringing a unique blend of veteran stability and cutting-edge digital pedagogy.
I am a specialist in the foundational years. I understand that K-2 is where the trajectory of a child’s academic life is set. My instructional approach is rooted in the Science of Reading, utilising multi-sensory techniques to move students from phonemic awareness to fluent decoding. I have a proven track record of using formative and summative assessments to drive my instruction, ensuring that every child is met at their exact point of need through rigorous Differentiated Instruction.
I believe the classroom environment is a silent teacher. My rooms are meticulously structured to promote student independence and inquiry. I am an expert in Classroom Management and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). By establishing clear routines and a "Warm Demanding" atmosphere, I create a space where students feel safe to take risks and where behavioral disruptions are minimized through high engagement and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL).
Furthermore, my proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite allows me to design high-quality, professional visual aids and digital content that cater to the visual and cognitive needs of young learners. I don’t just use technology; I integrate it into Inquiry-Based Learning to foster critical thinking from the age of five.
I am a collaborative Leader and lifelong learner. As a designated Advanced Skills Teacher (AST), I am a "teacher of teachers."
