About
Personal Statement
I am a dedicated and accomplished educator with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and thirteen years of experience in public education, teaching across kindergarten and elementary school levels. For ten years, I taught all core subjects in kindergarten, focusing on early numeracy, literacy, and social development. For the past three years, I have served as an elementary school teacher with a primary emphasis on mathematics instruction. Throughout my career, I have remained committed to inclusive, learner-centered teaching and high academic standards.
Although my formal academic training is in mathematics, I have taken personal initiative to independently develop professional skills in inclusive and special needs education through online courses, research, and practical application. This self-directed learning has enabled me to effectively support learners living with disabilities within mainstream classrooms. I employ differentiated instruction, flexible teaching strategies, and individualized support to ensure that all students can access the curriculum and make meaningful academic progress.
My dedication to differentiated and inclusive teaching has been formally recognized. In 2025, I received the National Award for Best Differentiated Learning Teacher, and I was also honored as the Best Elementary School Teacher in my District. These awards reflect my ability to adapt instruction across subjects and grade levels, create inclusive learning environments, and maintain high expectations for all learners.
As a mathematics educator, I strive to make learning engaging and accessible by using hands-on activities, visual representations, real-life applications, and formative assessment. At the kindergarten level, I focused on building foundational skills and fostering curiosity and confidence in learning. At the elementary level, I emphasize mathematical reasoning, problem-solving, and critical thinking, while supporting diverse learning needs.
In addition to classroom teaching, I serve as a Lead Facilitator in my district. In this role, I mentor teachers, support instructional improvement, and facilitate professional learning activities focused on effective teaching practices, differentiation, and inclusion. I collaborate closely with colleagues and school leaders to promote reflective practice and continuous improvement across the school community.
My teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that all learners can succeed when provided with equitable opportunities, appropriate support, and a nurturing learning environment. I value collaboration with families and colleagues and continually seek opportunities for professional growth through research-informed practice.
